How long does the application process take?
Glass coating is typically completed within a few hours and is often carried out as part of a wider protection package on the same day. When booked as a standalone service, most vehicles can be dropped off and collected the same day. We'll confirm the exact timeframe when you book, as preparation time can vary depending on glass condition and the number of surfaces being treated.
How long does a glass coating last on a windscreen?
With correct preparation and care, a professionally applied glass coating typically lasts 1–2 years on a windscreen — sometimes longer depending on driving habits, wiper usage, and how regularly the glass is cleaned. High-speed highway driving and frequent wiper use will naturally wear the coating faster. Annual inspection and re-application can help maintain peak performance.
Does glass coating improve visibility in the rain?
Yes — this is one of the most noticeable benefits. Glass coating creates a hydrophobic (water-repelling) surface that causes rain to bead up and roll away rather than sheeting across your view. At highway speeds, water clears almost on its own. In slower, heavier rain you'll still use your wipers, but with far better clarity and less smearing than uncoated glass.

That said, coating alone won't fix worn or damaged wiper blades. For best results, we recommend ensuring your blades are in good condition before — or shortly after — the coating is applied.
Do I need to replace my wiper blades before applying the coating?
It's not a strict requirement, but it is recommended. Old, hardened, or split wiper blades can smear residue across freshly coated glass and may scratch the surface over time — reducing both the performance and lifespan of the coating.
If your blades are worn, replacing them before (or shortly after) application will give you the best results and protect your investment in the coating.

Maintaining coated glass is straightforward. For best results:
- Clean glass regularly using a clean microfibre cloth and a streak-free glass cleaner
- Avoid abrasive cloths, sponges, or harsh chemical cleaners
- Don't use automatic car washes with stiff brushes — hand washing is preferred
- If bird droppings, tree sap, or bug residue land on coated glass, remove them promptly to avoid etching
- Keep wiper blades in good condition to avoid micro-scratching the coating
